The Fort Myers Police Department is planning the 3rd Annual “Cops and Joggers” 5K. Proceeds from this year’s race will benefit the department’s Fallen Officer Memorial Fund. The fund was originally created to build a memorial in front of police headquarters. Now money raised is used to assist families of fallen officers.
The race will take place at 7:30am on Saturday, October 23, 2010. The race begins and ends at Centennial Park along the river in historic downtown Fort Myers and will cross the Edison Bridge. The 3.1-mile run will venture through some great scenery and will be a great experience for all.
The race committee is looking for both sponsors and joggers. Potential sponsors should contact Denise Egolf at 239-321-7723. Joggers can register online at www.ftmyerstrackclub.com. The entry fee is just $20 if registered on or before October 21st.
