safe zoneOn March 1, 2016 the Fort Myers Police Department set up E-Commerce Exchange Safety Zone in the east parking lot of police headquarters. This parking lot is under video surveillance 24-hours a day and is available to the public to use to conduct e-commerce transactions. During normal business hours citizens may also use the police department lobby to conduct transactions as well.

“Recent incidents locally and nationwide have created the need have such a program.” said Police Chief Dennis Eads.

With the recent launch of a like program by the North Port Police Department (FL), the Fort Myers Police Department saw an opportunity to provides citizens with a safe location and prevent crimes from occurring during the exchange of e-commerce transactions.
