Punta Gorda Police Department Interim Chief Tom Lewis wants to ensure members of the community are well-informed about their local law enforcement agency. It is not uncommon to see members of the police department attending community events, civic association meetings, and community forums, but Interim Chief Lewis is now adding another venue to this line of open communication – your morning coffee before work.
Starting January 5th, 2016, Interim Chief Tom Lewis will be hosting a monthly Coffee with the Chief at the Punta Gorda Police Department. The Chief, along with members of his Command Staff, will be available to anyone in the community who has questions or concerns.
Interim Chief Tom Lewis states, “We are constantly seeking ways of improving communication with the public. Having a relaxed, open dialogue can go a long way in sharing information and building trust. It is a new venue for citizens who may not be members of the groups and board meetings regularly attended by myself and my staff.”
Coffee with the Chief will occur the first Tuesday of each month beginning January 5th. The public will be welcomed into the Punta Gorda Police Department, 1410 Tamiami Trail, Punta Gorda, from 7:00am-8:00am.
