Captain DennardThe Fort Myers Police Department is pleased to announce Captain Willie Dennard as a graduate of FDLE’s 49th Chief Executive Seminar. Captain Dennard was among 17 senior executives across the state who attended the program and graduated.

The Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute advised participants met for 3 weeks over a 3 month period and graduated November 18, 2015.  Graduates took classes on topics such as future trends, managing generations, risk management, succession planning and implementing strategic change.

The goal of the Chief Executive Seminar is to prepare Florida’s criminal justice leadership for the changing demands of the future. Class participants study trends and events that may affect criminal justice professionals and Florida, while developing new leadership skills to address the challenges that lie ahead. “Continuing education is extremely important as we prepare our leaders to stay ahead of the curve,” said Police Chief Dennis Eads.

The Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute, within the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and affiliated with the State University System, was established in 1990 by the Florida Legislature to address the need for an innovative and multi-faceted approach to the education and training of criminal justice professionals.
