The Fort Myers Police Department has submitted the Semi-Annual Uniform Crime Report to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the figures have been certified. The semi-annual statistics show a 9.7% decrease in overall crime for the first six months of 2015.

Violent crime dropped 8.1% while the total non-violent crime, such as burglaries, thefts and stolen vehicles decreased by 10.2%. “The numbers are promising however we strive for even further reductions as we move forward,” said Interim Police Chief Dennis Eads. Other significant decreases were seen in total thefts and robberies which were down 12.6% and 10.8% respectively. “These statistics are a direct reflection of the hard working men and women at the Fort Myers Police Department,” Eads added.
