Job Description
General Description of Duties: General duty police work responsible for the enforcement of laws and ordinances, prevention, detection and investigation of crime, maintenance of law and order and other duties associated with the protection of life and property and public safety. Incumbents perform duties in accordance with Florida State Statutes and established departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines. Position performs essential functions as outlined herein applicable to assigned functional area. Performs related work as required.

Additional Information
Physical Ability: Tasks may involve the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of heavy objects and materials (up to 150 pounds).

Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds. Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Some tasks require oral communications ability.

Environmental Factors: Tasks may risk exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, violence, disease, pathogenic substances and/or toxic/poisonous agents.

 

Job Requirements
  • Age 21
  • Education Associate Degree
  • Experience Two years law enforcement
  • Additional Requirement :
    Applicants must possess minimum police standards certificate required by the State of Florida for a sworn police officer.**Candidates may apply if currently enrolled in a CJSTC Law Enforcement Academy.Qualified candidates will be notified via email to test on the following dates: Tuesday, October 13, 2015October 14-16, 2015

  • Florida driver’s license required; must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and be physically fit.
  • Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma; two years of college or equivalent experience required from an accredited institution; or, any combination of the listed knowledge, skills and abilities. Work on rotating shift as assigned or needed.
