Sgt. TarmanOn Friday, December 12, 2014 the Fort Myers Police Department honored an employee at a monthly award ceremony. FMPD strives every day to not only protect and serve the residents of the City of Fort Myers, but to make it a better place to live. “It is our policy to recognize employees of exemplary performance of their duties” said Chief Doug Baker. “We appreciate their heroics and the hard work that these men and women put in each day.”

Sergeant Peter Tarman has been selected Officer of the Month for November 2014. Sergeant Tarman was honored for his outstanding assistance with the 2014 Fort Myers Cops & Joggers 5k Race.

In the spring of 2008, the department began a venture and created the first law enforcement public road race in the history of the City of Fort Myers. The goal of the event was to gain funds for the Fort Myers Police Department’s Fallen Officer Memorial. Over the past several years, Sergeant Tarman has assisted in making the race a great success due to his diligent actions, attention to detail, and strong work ethic.

On October 11, 2014 the seventh annual race occurred bringing in an amazing 701 runners and netting $17,794.80 in proceeds which went to the Fort Myers Police Department Memorial Fund and the Brotherhood Ride. This level of success and achievement would not have been obtained without the assistance of Sergeant Tarman. Sergeant Tarman is commended for his hard work and dedication to the Fort Myers Police Department.

Please join us in congratulating our award recipient!
