Earlier this morning, Punta Gorda Police Chief Albert (Butch) Arenal was elected by his peers from across the state as the 2nd Vice President of the Florida Police Chiefs Association (FPCA). He won the appointment by unanimous vote. As the 3rd Vice President, Chief Arenal has served as the Executive Board liaison to the Public/Private Partnership Committee and the University Police Chiefs Committee. He was also appointed as the FPCA representative to the State Domestic Security Oversight Council.

Founded in 1952, the Florida Police Chiefs Association is the fourth largest state police chiefs association in the United States. It is composed of more than 750 of the state’s top law enforcement executives. FPCA serves municipal police departments, airport police, college and university police, private business and security firms, as well as federal, state and county law enforcement agencies.

Chief Arenal stated, “During my first year on the Executive Board of the Florida Police Chiefs Association, I have seen what this organization can accomplish. I am very proud to represent Punta Gorda and to have the opportunity to serve alongside some of the finest Police Chiefs in the country.”

Chief Arenal will be installed as the 2nd Vice President tonight at the 62nd Conference installation banquet in Boca Raton, Florida. Congratulations Chief Arenal.
