The Cape Coral Police Department announced Tuesday 2012 crime rates in the city dropped significantly from 2011, including a 26 percent fall in robbery incidents.
Along with the large drop in robberies, the data contained in the annual Uniform Crime Report revealed 163 fewer burglaries than 2011 (-16%) and 310 fewer larcenies (-11%).
The most notable increase over 2011 was motor vehicle theft, rising by 10 incidents (9%). The homicide category also showed an increase of 1 case, totaling 4 in 2012.
