FMPD Ceremony held to Remember Fallen Officers
(Fort Myers, FL) –Fort Myers Police Department Chief Derrick Diggs along with fellow law enforcement agencies, family members and law enforcement remembrance organizations participated in an event to remember and commemorate members who have fallen in the line of duty. Several events took place starting with Officer Adam Jobbers-Miller’s name being unveiled on the FMPD memorial monument by his parents who peeled away blue tape to show it etched on the faceplate glass. That was followed by a presentation from Blue Line Bears a nonprofit organization with the goal of helping the children of fallen Law Enforcement officers cope with the devastating loss of a parent. Then Lt. Jeffery Bernice of the FMPD presented checks from funds raised through the Cops & Joggers 5K race to the Fallen Officer Memorial Foundation, the Brotherhood Ride and the families of Officer Adam Jobbers-Miller and Deputy William Gentry.
Finally, a Fallen Officers Honor Chair by the non-profit group “Saving a Hero’s Place” was presented to the department to honor their fallen officer’s and K-9 companions who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
