The Punta Gorda Police Department wrapped up a long term capital improvement project on Monday morning that involved a complete upgrade and modernization of the current communications center.
The modernized work center has new flooring, new LED overhead lights, repaired and cleaned up walls, fresh paint and new baseboards. The new workstations include high sound absorptive panel systems, a dual surface console, cable management, CPU Enclosures, rollervision monitor mounting, dimmable task lights and an LED status indicator lights. There are also six wall mounted screens to effectively monitor weather, county wide phone activity, the Charlotte County Automated Traffic Management System, and two for security cameras and local news.
This project cost approximately $65,000 to complete. We were financially supported through Capital Improvement Project funds through the City of Punta Gorda, Police Department operating funds, Facilities Maintenance Operating funds, Information Technology Operating Funds, Charlotte County E911 operating funds and Charlotte County Radio Management operating funds.
“This project has created a Communications Center we can be proud of,” stated Chief Tom Lewis. “We now have a center that is capable of carrying us into the future of public safety.”
