Fields & GonzalezOn Friday, December 11, 2015 the Fort Myers Police Department honored several employees at a monthly award ceremony. FMPD strives every day to not only protect and serve the residents of the City of Fort Myers, but to make it a better place to live.

Sergeant Jason Fields has been selected Officer of the Month for November 2015. Sergeant Fields was honored for his dedicated work as the Fort Myers Police Department’s 117th Citizen Police Academy Coordinator.

In August of 2015, at the last minute, Sergeant Fields was assigned with the task of coordinating the Citizen’s Police Academy which started in early September. Sergeant Fields did not hesitate to take on the task. Sergeant Fields organized the instructors, prepared material, instructed some of the classes, and showed the personal side of law enforcement during each of the ten sessions held. Just one of the letters received by a citizen of the 117th CPA class, described Sergeant Fields as having a great attitude, dedicated, and passionate. These are just some of the traits that Sergeant Fields possesses.

Sergeant Fields in an asset to the Citizen Police Academy and is a great representative of the Fort Myers Police Department. The Professional Standards Bureau looks forward to the 118th CPA where Sergeant Fields will again utilize his skills.

Senior Staff Assistant Irma Gonzalez has been selected as the Civilians of the Month for November 2015. Irma Gonzalez was recognized for her outstanding service that she has provided to the Fort Myers Police Department.

Irma Gonzalez has been assigned to the Professional Standards Bureau as an Administrative Assistant since 2007. During her tenure, she has perfected the concept of teamwork and single handedly runs the Professional Standards Bureau on a daily basis.

Irma is the backbone of the Professional Standards Bureau and shows a vested interest in assisting others above and beyond her responsibilities and duties. Irma comes to work each day with a positive attitude and is one of the hardest workers in the agency. Irma consistently makes a positive impact to the continued successful operation and growth of the Professional Standards Bureau and the Fort Myers Police Department.
