The Fort Myers PoliBJAce Department is in the process of applying for another Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program FY 2015 local solicitation through the U.S Department of Justice.

One of the requirements of the grant is that the governing body as well as the public is notified 30 days prior to the submission of the grant. Only eligible units of government listed on the US Department of Justice website are able to apply for funding.

The City of Fort Myers is eligible to receive $52,094, to be used over a four- year period. JAG funded projects may address crime through the provision of services directly to individuals and/or communities and by improving the effectiveness and efficiency of criminal justice systems, processes, and procedures. Additionally, the JAG program supports a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based on local needs and conditions.
