Starting on November 1, 2014 several employees at the Fort Myers Police Department will once again participate in “Movember” also known as “No Shave November” by growing their moustaches until November 30th. Movember is about bringing back the moustache, having fun, creating conversations and awareness, and raising funds for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health problems.
2013 was the first year FMPD participated in Movember and it definitely created some conversation around the police department. “The opportunity to generate interest in men’s health issues that have only been openly discussed until recently is a good start to a worthwhile cause,” said FMPD cause initiator Lieutenant William Musante. “Having fun with your co-workers while doing it is just a bonus,” Musante added.
