On Thursday July 24, 2014 between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. the Fort Myers Police Department will host a “Youth Explosion” at the Dr. Carrie Robinson Center located at 2990 Edison Avenue. This is the second annual event which features a night filled with energy, motivational speakers, music and live entertainment directed at empowering our city’s youth.

The event is organized by FMPD’s Dunbar District Community Policing Coordinators Officer Yvetta Dominique and Officer Bryan Fuller with a special guest appearance from Fab First Lady Niki from local radio station 105.5 The Beat. This year’s theme will be a talk show format covering educational topics such as:

• Drugs
• Teen pregnancy
• Violence
• Education
• Appearance
• Social media

Along with the outstanding motivational speaking aimed at guiding our youth toward success an event immediately afterwards will be held at the Wi-Fi Café located next door at the Star’s Complex for teens ages 13 to 17. The event times will be from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The event is free and parents are encouraged to attend both venues with their children. For more information please contact Dunbar District Community Policing Coordinator Officer Yvetta Dominique at (239) 321-7700.
