KOPS&Explorer55On Saturday, August 23, 2014 the Fort Myers Police Department will host an open house to promote two youth programs. Police Explorer Post 55 provides our youth ages 14-21 with an opportunity to experience FMPD’s daily operations. Most Explorers have an interest in law enforcement as a career and this program allows them to get to know our officers and agency.

K.O.P.S. or Kids Our Primary Source is a program designed for children ages 11-13. Similar to the Explorer program, KOPS provides students with an opportunity to learn about law enforcement and create a positive relationship with our officers.

The open house will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at FMPD’s police substation located at 1803 Golfview Avenue. If you’d like more information on how your child can get involved please contact Youth Relations Coordinator Officer Athena Mitchell at (239) 321-7752 or amitchell@fmpolice.com
