“Stranger Danger Alert”
On April 28, 2014 at approximately 11:10 a.m. the Fort Myers Police Department responded to a call of a child abduction. Upon arrival police made contact with the mother of a 10-year old boy who reported her son was forced into a vehicle at his bus stop located at the corner of Central Avenue and Franklin Street just a few hours earlier around 6:55 a.m.
Through an interview conducted by an investigator with the Child Protection Team police learned the child was forced into a vehicle by a white male. This vehicle was already occupied by a black male. The child was driven around for several hours before he was able to escape in the area of Fort Myers Middle School and ran home.
The suspects involved are further described as an older white male wearing a black shirt, large build with salt and pepper hair. The black male is described as younger, wearing a brown shirt with a Mohawk style hair. The vehicle driven by the suspects is described as a dark blue four-door SUV with blue leather interior.
Through a follow up investigation and neighborhood canvass detectives determined that the vehicle and suspects have been seen frequenting the area.
Police have stepped patrols in the area and will continue to investigate. FMPD would like to remind residents to report any suspicious activity by calling the police immediately. The investigation is on-going and any updates will be released via e-mail.
