“FMPD Congratulates Citizen Police Academy Graduates”

On November 21, 2013, 19 citizens graduated from the Fort Myers Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy (CPA). The graduates are encouraged to be ambassadors in the community and share their positive experience with others, as well as, volunteer with the Department, and/or apply for an exciting career opportunity.

Participants attended classes on Thursday evenings from 6pm-9pm for 10 weeks with four Saturday half days, learning the ins and outs of the Fort Myers Police Department. The CPA provides citizens with a better understanding of police functions and greater insight to police practices and services through classroom instruction and hands-on exercises.

Applications are now being accepted for the Spring CPA. The spring session will start on Thursday, March 6, 2014 with graduation commencing on Thursday, May 22, 2014. Citizens that live and/or work within the City of Fort Myers will receive priority placement. All participants undergo a background check prior to being accepted into the program.
