Hendry County Sheriff’s Office Hosts 2nd Annual Ride Around the Lake
On March 23, 2013, Hendry County Sheriff Steve Whidden and his Community Policing Unit will be hosting its 2nd Annual Ride Around the Lake, benefiting the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches.
Registration for the ride will begin at Roland & Mary Ann Martin’s Marina and Tiki Bar, at 920 E. Del Monte Avenue in Clewiston. The cost to ride is $10 per bike, for the bike/car show there is a $10.00 entry fee.
This relaxing ride around Lake Okeechobee will start from the Marina and return to the same place. At the end of the ride there will be a car show, bike show, food and refreshments, live entertainment, door prizes, 50/50 drawing, and door prizes. Last year there were approximately 100 riders and raised approximately $2,000.00. This year we are looking for more participation.
The Florida Sheriffs Association founded the Florida Sheriffs Boys Ranch in 1957. That evolved into the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches, Inc. an example of the FSA’s commitment to preventing juvenile crime and delinquency by guiding youngsters to productive lives as law-abiding citizens. To date, more than 100,000 youths have been served by the Florida Youth Ranches.
