The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has once again earned the stamp of excellence for its leadership in public safety.
This past weekend in Jacksonville, Sheriff Mike Scott accepted reaccreditation status from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. CALEA conducts independent on-site reviews of agencies across the United States and Canada to ensure compliance with best practice standards of law enforcement. This modern management model requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations and support services.
“CALEA is considered the gold standard in public safety,” Scott said in a prepared statement. “Accreditation is a highly prized recognition of law enforcement excellence and I couldn’t be happier that the men and women of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office have once again risen to the occasion.”
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office first received CALEA accreditation in 1991. This marks the seventh time since then that LCSO has received reaccreditation.
