An event to raise awareness of human trafficking is planned in Immokalee.

“A Day Without Slavery” will be held Nov. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Immokalee Community Park, 321 N. 1st Street.

The event is being held by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office and the Collier County Coalition Against Human Trafficking with the goal of providing information about human trafficking and community services available in Immokalee.

Deputies also hope the event will open avenues of communication with the community and encourage residents to report suspected trafficking.

Food, music and children’s’ activities will be provided. Free eye exams and child identification kits that include fingerprints and photo will also be available.

“A Day Without Slavery” is open to everyone regardless of their immigration status. IDs will not be checked.
