On March 29, 2012, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) signed an Authorized Central Storage Program Letter of Agreement (LOA) with the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). As a condition of FDLE’s participation in the DEA Central Storage Program, FDLE “entered into separate Agreements with local law enforcement agencies in order for such agencies to participate in this Authorized Central Storage Program.” In anticipation of this program coming online it is necessary that law enforcement officers throughout the state are properly trained to identify and mitigate clandestine methamphetamine laboratories.
The ACS program prepares certified Clan Lab responders with the knowledge to safely segregate, separate and over-pack the hazardous waste which are found in a clandestine laboratory and transport to the containers for temporary storage.
The training itself is free; however, those outside the Fort Myers area are responsible for transportation, Per Diem, and lodging. Furthermore, by participating in this training all the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be disseminated to those who successfully complete the training. This training will be hosted by DEA and FDLE’s Fort Myers Regional Operation Center:
