The Fort Myers Police Department is currently accepting applications for the upcoming Citizen Police Academy. Participants in the academy will be exposed to all facets of FMPD to include various hands-on demonstrations.

The classes provide citizens with knowledge, providing a better understanding of police functions and greater insight to police practices and services. Classes are held at the Southwest Florida Public Service Academy located at 4312 Michigan Avenue. Classes begin on Thursday, April 6, 2017 and will run for ten consecutive Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Additionally, there will be four Saturday interactive classes that are optional. Class size is limited to 25 participants. Citizens that live or work within the City of Fort Myers will receive priority.

Completed applications can be mailed or dropped off at the department c/o Denise Egolf.
