Assigned by Chief Derrick Diggs of the Fort Myers Police Department, the community engagement consulting team and City of Fort Myers Police officers visited Fort Myers and met with residents from several neighborhoods last week. The long-terms goal of the team is to begin a holistic process of creating a safe, effective and flourishing community by sharing knowledge, insights and best practices.

Members of the Washington, D.C.-based consulting team include: certified restorative justice trainers Dr. Saleem Hylton, M.Msc., Ph.D., Dr. Morris Jenkins, Ph.D., and Dr. Ivy Hylton, LICSW, Ph. D.; Dr. Sandra Pavelka, Ph.D., certified family court mediator, Supreme Court, State of Florida; and Travis Loggins Santiago, MA, certified restorative justice circle facilitator and Fort Myers native son. Chief Diggs has worked successfully with the consulting team in other cities.
